Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28 1952) is an American stage actor and TV actor. Most famously, she is known for portraying the role of Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves. Other important roles include the role of President Laura Roslin from Battlestar Galactica and the President's wife of Independence Day and Donnie's Mother in Donnie's Darko.
